Wear Better

Kalamazoo Vintage — Sustainability

Wear
Better

Fashion is one of the most wasteful industries on earth. Buying vintage is one of the simplest ways to push back. Here's what we believe — and what we're doing about it.

Every piece you buy second-hand is one less piece manufactured new. That matters.

Why it matters

The Case for
Buying Vintage

The fashion industry produces 10% of global carbon emissions — more than aviation and shipping combined. Fast fashion has made it worse. Trend cycles that used to run twice a year now run 52 times.

Buying vintage breaks that cycle. Every second-hand piece bought is a new piece not manufactured, not shipped halfway around the world, not made in conditions nobody wants to look at too closely.

It's not a sacrifice. The clothes are better made, more individual, and often more affordable. Vintage isn't a compromise — it's an upgrade.

Kalamazoo Vintage is committed to addressing the growing environmental crisis — starting with second-hand clothing waste in Africa, especially in places like Ghana, where oceans and landfills are overflowing with discarded garments.

The source

Kantamanto,
Accra

Kantamanto is one of the world's largest second-hand clothing markets. It processes millions of garments a week — but it also bears the weight of the West's overconsumption.

By sourcing directly and working with local traders, we put money back into the market and help give pieces a life outside Ghana's landfills.
